The history of San Lorenzo begins in 1890, when Francesco D’Amico purchased 2 hectares of land in the medieval village of Castilenti to celebrate the birth of his first child. In 1935, his son Giuseppe, after achieving success in America, returned to Abruzzo with the dream of building a winery. On August 10, 1940, during the “Night of the Shooting Stars of San Lorenzo,” Giuseppe fulfilled his dream by purchasing 80 hectares of land from Duke Caracciolo. In 1950, Adina D’Amico (Giuseppe’s daughter) and her husband Guido Barbone transformed the family business into a winery. Since then, the winery has expanded, strengthening its presence in the region while continuing its proud tradition.
