Castello del Terriccio has a thousand-year-long history. Between the 13th and 14th centuries, the Bishop of Pisa, nephew of Pope Boniface VIII, granted the estate in emphyteusis to the Gaetani counts on behalf of the Roman Church. At the end of the 18th century, Polish princes, having emigrated from Poland, purchased Terriccio and held it until the first half of the 20th century. The Poniatowski family transformed the fortified castle into an agricultural estate, building the farm for the production of wheat, olives, and grapes, as well as the cellar and other related buildings.
