The Chianti area where Petrolo is located is predominantly covered by woods, with vineyards and olive groves cultivated in harmony with the unique terroir and climate. The tradition of producing high-quality wines in this region dates back to the 18th century, when Cosimo III de Medici identified Val d’Arno di Sopra as one of the most valuable zones for fine wine and olive oil. In the 19th century, agronomist Giorgio Perrin, owner of Petrolo, recognized the importance of the land and Sangiovese grape, as well as the use of French varietals in blends. Since the 1940s, the Bazzocchi family has preserved this heritage, continuing a legacy of qualità and respect for the terroir.
